Centaur: A Chaotic Tail Part 10Peggy stared at him. "Uhm . . ." She was at a complete loss for words. This was the first time she'd ever seen a male centaur and the sight was both amazing and jarring. She shook her head to try and clear it, "Gallraen . . . you're being really sweet . . . but I hardly know you and . . . I mean . . . it's just a little . . ." She gave him a sheepish look back, "It's a bit sudden."
Gallraen chuckled and stomped, his tail swishing around his back legs, "I suppose it is, but you have to remember, I've been watching you for a long time. But you're right, you don't know me. I understand that perfectly." There was a flash of disappointment but his face returned to smiling immediately after. "Maybe I'll just stay this way for a while anyway." He smirked and kicked his back leg mischievously.
Peggy shook her head in amusement. She couldn't believe this was happening. "Gallraen, what about Felix? Is he going to be all right?"
Gallraen smiled, "Well . . . you and I could go and find
Centaur: A Chaotic Tail Part 9Peggy slowly and reluctantly entered. The inside was very different from the outside. It actually seemed bigger. There were large black marble pillars with veins of white and gold going through them. The floor was also a dark marble and the walls were some sort of natural stone carved into random shapes that seemed to make some sort of sense when you looked at them closely together, but then didn't when you got too close or too far away. Peggy followed the squirrel, noticing that there were more of them even inside, but these were just looking at her curiously. It was a bit unnerving actually.
The pillared hall led to what looked like a dining room, with a large black table. On the table was food and drink in enough quantities to satisfy every desire she could have in terms of food. She nearly ran up to the table and started devouring the food, but she stopped and looked around nervously for any sign of anyone other than the squirrels, surely THEY hadn't built this place or set out thi
Centaur: A Chaotic Tail Part 8Peggy nodded and headed that direction with a worried look. Suddenly Kadin ran back down the stairs and yelled, "OY! Make a break fer it. Grab what books y'need and git outta here . . . City guard is looking fer ya. I sent them up the other way but y' don't got much time!"
Felix grabbed the book that had the centaur information and pulled Peggy along. Peggy started looking at the books as they passed and suddenly one caught her eye. The History of the Gods. She grabbed it and shoved it in her saddlebags, wondering what had possessed her to do that as she sped along as fast as she could manage in the labyrinthine maze of bookshelves. They both sighed with relief as they got to the door and pushed their way outside. Their relief was short lived however.
The sight that met them was confusing, noisy, and full of angry people. The workers were yelling angrily at soldiers, the soldiers were yelling angrily back. Things were being thrown from the construction site and men were being arr
Centaur: A Chaotic Tail Part 7Peggy blinked as they came to the more open area, though it didn't look like it was going to be open long. There were already new buildings being constructed in the empty areas. She wondered why anyone would want to fill in all the empty space . . . but shrugged, realizing she had no clue how a city this size even managed to stay orderly. Felix led her down the road, which seemed to be made of a flat stone surface with no sign of where the stones met each other. She wondered if magic was involved in its construction. Her hooves seemed to clatter even louder against this surface than against the cobbles. It made her grateful for the noise of the construction.
They made their way quickly to the Library's entrance and then Peggy stopped. In front of them was a long flight of steep stone stairs. "Felix . . . I don't know if I can get up those." Of all the issues she could imagine keeping her from finding out what she needed to know, this was the LAST that would have occurred to her. She pu
Centaur: A Chaotic Tail Part 6It took both of them a long time to deal with all the meat. They cooked it all, not wanting to have to carry around raw meat on their travels. Felix used a trick he learned to preserve a lot of it quickly . . . it would be a bit tough and dry but it would still be edible and would keep them going if they couldn't get fresh meat. Still, with the way Peggy ate even the deer wasn't going to last forever. They actually managed to put quite a dent in the fresh cooked meat. It made Felix feel good that she finally didn't look like she was starving.
Peggy stood up after she'd finally eaten her fill and looked around, "Felix? Does the name Shar'eshelle ring any bells to you?"
Felix shook his head and concentrated on not burning the meat, "No . . . why?"
Peggy looked around, "I . . . I think that might be the name of the goddess who's temple this is. I found a complete statue in one of the other rooms."
Felix looked thoughtful, "Huh . . . I don't know . . . not familiar with that name at all. T
